Senior Kindergarten

For the 2024-2025 school year, children enrolling in the Senior Kindergarten program must turn five by September 1, 2024. This class runs from 8:30am – 2:15pm with ten - twelve children in this class. Our small class size provides each student with the vital individual attention young children need.

In our Senior Kindergarten program, children are taught to develop basic skills through lessons, creative play and social interactions. Our Senior Kindergarten meets the Common Core State Standards. We use the Reading Wonders Language Arts program and the Wordly Wise workbooks for vocabulary. Our Florida Go Math! program offers an engaging and interactive approach to covering new state standards.

We provide our students with hands-on integrated learning. Children learn writing skills through the use of journals and with the Handwriting Without Tears

program. Additionally, Science and Social Studies are incorporated into daily learning and the integration of technology is used as an extension of the learning experience. Our Senior Kinder has internet capable computers so that the students can implement new skills as well as research and augment other classroom materials. Our Kinder Garden is on display for all to enjoy! Our Senior Kindergarten hosts a series of art displays throughout the year on their special bulletin board near the Office as well as throughout their classroom. Children continue to have daily opportunities to explore the classroom learning centers because we understand the importance of our Kindergarteners' need for play. Like all of our programs, our Senior Kindergarten provides developmentally appropriate and intellectually engaging learning experiences using hands-on activities throughout the day. The Senior Kindergarten class performs a Christmas play each year and participates in all in-house field trips, Chapel, and field trips to a play, the local market and flower shop and the Miami Seaquarium.
