Curriculum Description
We want to make the first experiences of school joyful and exciting. We want children to evolve, but we treasure children for who they are right now, not just for who they will become.

Over the past sixty years our curriculum has changed, progressed, and expanded. All the classes at Pinecrest Presbyterian Day School are age-appropriate, creative, nurturing and fun! We recognize that all areas of development are linked; each depends on and influences the others. We implement The Creative Curriculum by exploring a new theme weekly/bi-weekly which allows us to introduce academic concepts through music, movement, art, literature and hands-on activities.

Through this curriculum, children are taught pre-reading, pre-writing, and pre-math skills through art, songs, games and both structured and unstructured activities. The philosophy of The Creative Curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Children learn through active exploration of their environment and therefore the environment plays a critical role in learning. The richer the environments, the more concrete opportunities there are for children to learn by interacting with materials and people. The teacher’s role is to create an environment that invites children to observe, to be active, to make choices, and to experiment.

Our curriculum balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning with an emphasis on responding to children’s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. Resting on a firm foundation of research, it has an environmentally-based approach that defines the vital role of the teacher in connecting content, teaching, and learning for young children.

The goal of our curriculum is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners by actively exploring their environment.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have an 8 year old and 5 year old. My eldest attended Pinecrest Presbyterian from age 2 to 4. My youngest is currently attending. Pinecrest Presbyterian was been an amazing experience for my kids as well as my wife and I. PPDS felt like family from day one. The care and education they have given our children has been excellent. The staff is passionate and treat each child as their own.   Both of our children learned a great amount at PPDS and are advanced among their peers. This is obviously due to the great start they got at PPDS. My wife is especially happy because she always knows the children are safe while at PPDS. I strongly recommend them for anyone. They are simply the best.
